The X1D has a 4.8 x 32.9mm CMOS sensor. The camera features a new lens mounting system known as an XCD mount. It will accommodate the H system lenses with a mounting adapter. The company plans on producing nine XCD lenses by the end of 2018.

The company recommends that their cameras be serviced every year. This recommendation is only for cameras that are in constant use. For occasional use, the cameras only need to be serviced every two to three years. The maintenance service helps protect the camera.
