Headlights for Cadillac Escalade

Beat back the darkness with bright headlights for the Cadillac Escalade. While properly functioning headlights serve an undeniable practical purpose, the right front-end illuminators can also express your unique preferences as an Escalade owner. Select the right headlights for Cadillac Escalade or assemblies that perform the pragmatic and aesthetic functions that you desire.

What types of Cadillac Escalade headlights are available?

While road illuminators for the Cadillac Escalade come in all shapes and sizes due to varying models and years of manufacture, the type of technology used to produce the beam inevitably falls into one of two categories: high-intensity discharge, or HID, and light-emitting diodes. HID bulbs last between 1,000 and 2,000 hours and are considered the conventional option when it comes to vehicle headlights. These bulbs consist of a ballast and a housing that contains two tungsten electrodes.

When an electrical current runs through the electrodes and a noble gas such as xenon is released into the housing, a bright electrical arc is formed between the electrodes. LEDs skip the gas and the glass and instead use a variety of semiconductor materials to get the job done. Instead of one single bulb, LED headlights consist of a cluster of tiny diodes. These diodes are energy-efficient and stay cool during operation. This technology also shines when it comes to life expectancy: LED lights are rated to last 50,000 hours, which is the equivalent of 5.7 years of nonstop use.

Should both Cadillac Escalade headlights be changed simultaneously?

When experiencing issues with only one headlight, it can be tempting to only replace that particular bulb or assembly. However, HID bulbs lose up to 20% of their luminosity throughout their life span. This means that if you leave an existing HID bulb in place but replace its counterpart on the other side, your headlights will look uneven, potentially leading to a distraction on the road. Also, headlight assemblies gradually become cloudy due to particulate matter accumulating on the lens. For these reasons, it’s highly recommended that you replace both bulbs or assemblies at the same time.

How do you install replacement Cadillac Escalade headlight assemblies?

Replacing the headlight assemblies in your Escalade is easy and takes about 30 minutes for each side. Follow these simple instructions to remove the old assemblies and get started with some brand replacement headlights.

  • Turn off the engine and open the hood. Disengage the negative battery terminal and choose a side to begin.
  • Locate and remove the two bolts on the top of the headlight assembly. Turn the steering wheel so that the wheel well liner is accessible on the side you’re working on. Remove the bottom bolt from the liner and pull it up to expose the final headlight assembly bolt.
  • Remove the final bolt and pull the headlight assembly out of its socket. Disconnect the electrical wiring.
  • Connect the wiring to the replacement assembly and pop it into place. Install the three bolts to secure it to the vehicle, and then reattach the wheel well liner. Repeat these steps for the other side.
