The Story of the Raging Bull

It is said that Ferruccio Lamborghini got into the supercar business because he bought a Ferrari and got into an argument with Enzo over the clutch. According to Lamborghini, it was a problem with the car, but Ferrari called it user error. There was only one thing left for Ferruccio to do: build his own supercar. You can take the first step to bringing a Lamborghini home by browsing eBay's offerings of new and pre-owned vehicles.

What's the Connection Between Astrology and Supercars?

It may seem odd, but there's a direct connection between astrology and many of Lamborghini's model names. Ferruccio Lamborghini was a Taurus as well as a bull-fighting enthusiast. It was a visit to the Miura ranch in Sevilla that gave him the inspiration he needed to come up with both the Raging Bull emblem and the names of many of his cars. From open-topped Spyders to aggressive coupes, the company had a vehicle for every enthusiast. Some of the more famous models include:

  • Miura: The first supercar, the Miura introduced the mid-engine V-12 layout that set the standard for Lamborghinis to come.
  • Countach: One of the few models not named after a bull, this aggressive looking hypercar featured a name based on an exclamation of astonishment.
  • Diablo: Named after both the Devil and a specific bull, this car took the company's reputation even further.
  • Murcielago: Another big twelve-cylinder, this car was named after a bull that survived no less than 28 sword strokes before being spared.
Lamborghinis of the Twenty-First Century

Lamborghini entered the twenty-first century with the same fighting spirit it had always possessed despite the changing automotive landscape. This led to new designs and new engine choices with the V-10 entering the lineup along with concepts for hybrids and even an SUV. Some of the better-known examples include:

  • Lamborghini Gallardo: The Gallardo brought a naturally aspirated V-10 engine to the Lamborghini line and was the most popular vehicle in the company's history.
  • Lamborghini Huracan: Replacing the Gallardo, the Huracan kept the same V-10 formula and added new features like dynamic steering to the mix.
  • Lamborghini Aventador: Another V-12, the Aventador replaced the Murcielago at the top of the line.
Concept Cars and Developments

With the market shifting, the company introduced the Urus SUV in 2018. This V-8 powered SUV is the first Lambo to feature a turbocharged engine. Another move into the future was the Asterion technology demonstrator, which featured electric drive to the front wheels and a standard V-10 to the rear. Unlike the Lamborghini Urus it has not entered development, but it has proven that the company is looking forward towards a lower emission future.
