Pedales y Almohadillas para Toyota Tacoma

Toyota Tacoma Pedals and Pads

Many people want reliable and durable vehicles and parts, especially with the four-wheel drive Toyota Tacoma pickup. One way to ensure your truck maintains its peak potential is through adding certain aftermarket accessories, such as new brake pedals and pads. It is important to know how to replace the pedals and pads on your Toyota Tacoma, especially if you want to take full advantage of the off-road capabilities in your truck model.

How do you change the pedals in a Toyota Tacoma?

It is important to know how to remove the pedals and pads in your crew cab or double cab Toyota model. For any additional questions, always thoroughly research your Tacoma, TRD Sport, or TRD Off-Road owners manual.

  • First, be sure that the emergency brake is on to prevent the vehicle from moving or rolling. Take out the drivers side door mat to access the bolts under the pedal.
  • Pull off the factory brake pedal. Start by peeling the top of the pedal cover and lifting upward; it should pop right off.
  • Remove the accelerator pedal; use a wrench to remove the nuts that connect the pedal to the floor. Remove the entire pedal and bar once the nuts are fully removed.
  • Remove the entire factory pedal and bar by removing the whole bracket.
  • Using a de-greaser and a clean towel, clean the metal part of the pedals to ensure all dust and grime left over from the previous pedals is removed.
  • Install the new pad by placing the pin in the hole in the back of the pedal; this should secure it to the metal accelerator. Replace the pedal by placing it back on in the same fashion that it was removed. Tighten the nuts to the floor and re-attach the cables.
  • Finally, stretch the rubber pedal cover over the face of the pedal and ensure it fits snugly in place.
What types of materials are pads and pedals made of?

The more common types of materials used for Toyota pickup pads and pedals are semi-metallic materials. These pads consist of metal shavings or flakes combined with resin. Typically, these metals will be made of copper, brass, or steel. Occasionally, Toyota pads will be made of ceramic materials such as porcelain or clay.

What are the different fitment placement options for pedals?

One option for fitment placement is just to get a direct replacement. This will be for a factory stock pedal or pad that needs to be replaced in your truck. Another option for purchase is for a performance purpose. A performance brake pad or pedal will have an option to better fine-tune the vehicle and provide more ease, comfort, and better performance. Consider your individual situation to determine which style of Toyota pads will work for you.
