TVs

Televisions have provided entertainment to individuals and families for generations. You have a full range of options on offer to choose from, including the picture quality of LCD TVs and Plasma TVs. From TVs manufactured by Samsung or Panasonic to ones made by other manufacturers, an LCD, plasma, or smart TV can add an additional dimension to your home entertainment options.

What is a Smart TV?

Smart TVs receive a picture from an outside source, just like standard TVs. However, a smart TV also includes some sort of operating system installed on the TV itself, similar to an operating system on a computer. These types of operating systems provide you with the ability to install streaming apps and access the internet without an external box. This both simplifies and speeds up the process of watching streaming internet content.

What types of TV screens are available?

  • Plasma TVs: A plasma TV operates similarly to a fluorescent light bulb, charging gases at various temperatures to create different colors. This works in a way that is similar to older CRT TVs although it comes in a much thinner package. Plasma TVs have excellent color accuracy and make good picks for placement in dimly lit rooms.
  • LCD TVs: LCD TVs contain a series of crystals sealed in a polymer. When light shines through the polymer, the crystals reflect back the appropriate image. The light typically comes from a series of fluorescent lights located behind the crystals. LCD TVs have a bright, crisp display, which displays a vivid picture even in bright surroundings.
  • LED TVs: LED TVs are similar to LCD TVs, but the primary difference is that LED TVs have LED backlights instead of fluorescent backlights. These LEDs decrease the weight of the television and improve its reliability. LED TVs may use high dynamic range, or HDR, technology, which allows the LEDs to display at a high level of contrast, creating a lifelike picture

What is an HDTV?

Many televisions on the market contain high-definition television, or HDTV, technology. To be classified as an HDTV, the TV must be able to display images in at least a 1280 by 720 screen resolution. This resolution is necessary to receive and display high-definition channels properly.

What are 4K TVs?

The type of TV called a 4K TV generally has a better resolution than the typical high-definition display. 4K TVs have at least 4,000 pixels along their horizontal axis and are backlit by an LED. This provides a vivid viewing experience. Because of the number of pixels, 4K technology is typically only available on larger displays that are at least 32 inches in size. 4K is also known as Ultra High Definition or UHD.
