Tail Lights for Toyota Sienna

Taillights are an important component for the safety of the vehicle and any passengers. These lighting accessories provide a warning to other drivers, letting them know that the vehicle is present or coming to a stop.

What bulb colors can you use in a taillight assembly?

Taillights are designed to illuminate a red glow when in use. This is due to the color of the cover. To ensure that the proper red hue is produced, it is necessary to only use a white or amber colored bulb within the assembly.

What is the difference between the different taillights?

There are three different types of taillights available for an automobile. These include the halogen, HIDs, and LEDs.

  • Halogen: Halogen options are produced by incandescent tail lights that have a small amount of halogen gas located within the light bulb itself. The design of these parts causes evaporated tungsten produced by the light bulb filament to be re-deposited onto the filament. This in-turn extends the life of the light bulb.
  • LEDs: LED tail lights are designed by creating clusters of LED diodes together for a bright illumination. Due to the tiny size of LED lightbulb, these accessories are energy-efficient and require only a small amount of power.
  • HIDs: Also known as Xenon lights, high intensity discharge lighting use an electric arc which is transferred between a cathode and an anode. This arc ignites a vaporized xenon gas to produce illumination. The HID or Xenon tail lights require a special light bulb that is created from fused quartz.
What causes condensation to build up in a tail light assembly?

A small amount of moisture within a tail light is a common occurrence that you should not worry about. To determine what the cause is for the condensation build up you can perform a few visual inspections.

  • Check the boot housing that holds the light bulb into the tail light. If the boot housing is damaged or loose, this can be the cause of the moisture build-up.
  • Check to see if the cover is secured properly. Loose screws or fasteners that hold the cover into place can allow water to seep in.
  • Inspect for cracks in the assembly. If cracks are present, this can be the cause of water getting into the assembly.
Is there any warning signal for burned out tail lights?

Yes. If you have an automobile equipped with a warning signal, this indicator will light-up on your automobile dash. You can also perform a visual inspection by having someone power on the car to see if the tail lights illuminate. Have the individual apply the brake and ensure that the illumination gets brighter when this is done.
